The ingredients needed to prepare Soup for the Soul:

  1. You need 1 tbsp of reserved bacon fat. I save bacon grease from previous cooking..
  2. Provide 1 lb of sausage links, removed from casings.
  3. Use 15 oz of can of great nothern beans, drained and rinsed.
  4. Use 15 oz of dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed.
  5. Use 8 cup of chicken broth.
  6. Get 1 cup of baby carrots.
  7. Use 1 1/2 cup of sliced yellow onion.
  8. Get 2 of leeks, cleaned and sliced.
  9. You need 1/2 cup of chopped celery.
  10. Use 1/4 tsp of red pepper flakes.
  11. Take 1 tsp of salt.
  12. You need 1/2 tsp of ground black pepper.
  13. Use 1/2 tsp of thyme.
  14. Use 1/2 tsp of garlic powder.
  15. Get 1 tbsp of worcestershire sauce.
  16. Provide 1 tbsp of sweet chili sauce.
  17. Provide 1 3/4 cup of uncooked ditalini pasta.

Steps to make Soup for the Soul:

  1. In a large dutch oven, heat bacon fat over medium heat..
  2. Add sausage meat and break pieces into a crumb texture..
  3. Once almost cooked through, add all the spices and seasonings..
  4. Add in your vegetables. Saute for three minutes..
  5. After three minutes, add in the chili sauce and Worcestershire..
  6. Now add beans and stock..
  7. Turn heat to low, cover pot and simmer for 45 minutes..
  8. Add in dry pasta and continue to simmer, covered for 15- 20 more minutes..
  9. Serve with a great crusty bread..
